Walging | Short film review

Following Fureur Blanche, Prognosticum and Verbintenis, Belgian director and effects artist Wesley Remory writes and directs Walging (2018), his fourth short film in the horror genre.
Of the duration of ten minutes, Walging probes the terrain of perversions by opening the door wide to two psychosexual disorders here that are interrelated or rather, one consequential to the other.

Devoid of dialogue, this unusual and disturbing film about necrophilia is characterized by a fairly simple story that is at the same time disconcerting, thanks to the powerful and difficult subject matter but also to the mournful atmosphere that blends well with a chilling soundtrack.
As per title, Walging is an ode to "disgust," an aversion that arises in the necrophilic act and is matched by a shocking ending that goes beyond the horror of putrefaction to reveal a far worse one.

Walging
transcends the sphere of death by vibrating the sad aftershocks of a painful past, incurable wounds nourished by revenge that give new life to torment and depravity.
walging-1With Walging Wesley Remory offers a journey into the darkness that lurks in the human soul where atrocious desires and perversions lodge, culminating in a disconcerting conclusion. Loading a morbid fascination and sinistro, this short film è capable of sinking the viewer into a lake of bitterness and desolation, lingering and intrusive feelings that cause discomfort.

Plot: A figure wanders into a field until he reaches a group of abandoned houses. Once inside an old dwelling, a decomposing corpse on a bed will be the object of the intruder's desire.

The effective practical effects related to the corpse were carried out by Wesley Remory himself, an effector among others also of Laundry Man By Johan Vandewoestijne (Lucker - The Necrophagous).
Wesley Remory also handled the cinematography and soundtrack along with Steven Van Cauwenbergh.
